Construction Product Regulations – Contracted Assessor
Location: Remote (UK-based), with UK travel and potential international travel

About the role
UKAS is the national accreditation body for the United Kingdom, responsible for evaluating organisations that provide conformity assessment services, including certification, testing, inspection, and calibration.
We are looking to expand our pool of Contracted Technical Assessors with expertise in Construction Products Regulation (CPR), supporting certification bodies and notified bodies operating under CPR frameworks.
This role is particularly suited to specialists with hands-on experience in one or more of the following:
- Structural metallic products (EN 1090), fabrication, and ISO 3834
- Concrete products, including precast and ready-mix schemes
- Fire products, including passive fire protection systems and related certification schemes
- CPR System 1 and System 2, including AVCP decision-making
Key Responsibilities
- Assess certification bodies and testing laboratories delivering CPR-related activities
- Evaluate application of AVCP procedures (including Systems 1, 1+, 2+, and 3), with particular focus on Systems 1 and 2
- Review factory production control (FPC), certification schemes, and inspection activities
- Assess Declaration of Performance (DoP) processes and conformity with harmonised or designated standards
- Review the correct use and documentation of CE and UKCA marking
- Evaluate traceability, labelling, and technical documentation for regulatory compliance
- Assess testing methods, inspection requirements, and supporting technical evidence
What We’re Looking For
- Proven, practical experience in one or more of the core CPR product areas listed above
- Strong working knowledge of Construction Products Regulation (CPR) and AVCP frameworks
- Experience applying technical standards within:
- Structural metallic systems and fabrication (EN 1090 / ISO 3834)
- Concrete production and certification (precast or ready-mix)
- Fire products and passive fire protection systems
- Understanding of product certification, testing, and inspection processes under ISO/IEC 17065 and/or ISO/IEC 17025
- Familiarity with CE/UKCA marking, harmonised standards (hENs), and UK-designated standards
- Awareness of regulatory frameworks, quality systems, and risks relating to the misuse of construction products
- Qualifications such as a Degree, HNC, ONC, BTech or equivalent in a relevant discipline are welcome but not essential where supported by strong practical experience
Typical backgrounds may include:
- Structural Engineer or Fabrication Specialist (EN 1090)
- Welding Engineer / Responsible Welding Coordinator (ISO 3834)
- Precast or Ready-Mix Concrete Technical Specialist
- Passive Fire Protection or Fire Products Specialist
- Certification or Technical Manager within a notified or approved body
- Construction product testing laboratory specialist
